Visit Your Dentist in Northwest Oklahoma City Before 2018!
December 10, 2017
Your dentist wants you to mark your calendars! It’s almost the end of the year, which means it’s time to visit your dentist in Northwest Oklahoma City before your dental insurance begins all over again in 2018. Learn more about the ins and outs of dental insurance benefits here!
Getting to Know Your Dental Insurance
Sometimes, patients don’t end up using their insurance benefits because they simply don’t understand them. Your dentist doesn’t want you to miss out on your covered preventive care because you thought your benefits were too complicated to figure out.
Practice Preventive Care Before the Year Ends
Are you aware that if you have dental insurance, you’ve probably noticed that you’ve been paying a monthly premium? That premium proves that you’ve earned your dental insurance. Use it!
Little do many people know, unused benefits are thrown out with the start of a new year. Say you need dental care in early January or February. Unfortunately, you’ll be starting from square one. Take advantage of the coverage you have now.
Why Should You Use Your Benefits?
It’s not all about wasting money—even though many would agree that is enough motivation to get just about anyone into the dental office. There are other just as important reasons to make a dental appointment before the end of the year.
Think about the last time you actually visited your local dentist. Has it been longer than 6 months? Believe it or not, most dental insurance plans cover just about all of your preventive dental care. Why? Preventive care is always better than restorative care. It’s better for your oral health to keep your smile in the best shape possible rather than having to undergo multiple dental treatments and procedures to rebuild it back to its optimal health.
A comprehensive dental exam
A key part of dental appointments is the exams that take place. Your dentist will meticulously scan your mouth for abnormalities and even use a dental x-ray to view the inner and outer structures. If any problems are noted, your dentist will discuss the best way to treat them with you.
Deep Professional Cleanings
One of the best things that your dentist can do for you is to deeply clean your smile above and below the gum line. Just because you brush your teeth, doesn’t mean that you removed all of the plaque that lingers around your mouth.
Your dentist can remove plaque and hardened tartar from between teeth and below the gum line. Sometimes, if you have the beginning of gum disease (gingivitis) your dentist will recommend more cleanings—services that may be included in your dental insurance benefits!
Custom treatment planning
When your exam and cleaning is complete, your dentist will be ready to speak with you about your appointment. As mentioned above, if there are any concerns presently, they can address them and plan to treat them with a “new year, new dental treatment plan.”
