Invisalign Clear Braces – Clearly Better Smiles

August 17, 2017

closeup of patient placing invisalign trayOriginally, orthodontic treatment to properly align and space teeth was considered a purely cosmetic service. For years, patients were considered vain for wanting to align their smiles, and dental insurance providers reinforced this idea by severely limiting coverage for orthodontic treatment. Still, the field of orthodontics has prevailed. Research has proven that a smile is not completely healthy unless it’s properly aligned. Today, there are numerous orthodontic options available for patients outside of the traditional metal bracket and wire braces. At Bluff Creek Dental, we offer a more cosmetic solution using the Invisalign alignment tray orthodontic system. This system allows teens and adults to correct orthodontic issues without metal mouth, dietary restrictions, or spending hours trying to floss between wires and brackets. If you’d like to get started down the road to your most beautiful smile, call to schedule your orthodontic consultation today.

What Happens if a Root Canal Fails?

August 15, 2017

Man in pain holding cheekRoot canals have a bad reputation. That’s no secret. However, apart from a few rare exceptions, root canals actually relieve pain rather than causing it. When done properly, root canal therapy allows patients to keep a tooth that would have otherwise been extracted. A root canal is needed when decay or damage accesses the innermost layer of the tooth where the nerve system is housed causing severe pain and dental sensitivity. In rare cases, the dentist may not completely remove the inner tooth layer, called the pulp, or the tooth may not be completely sealed. When this happens, the root canal may fail. In some cases, retreatment is possible, but for others, tooth extraction and replacement may be necessary. The treatment decision is a personal one, and no solution is right for every patient.

Can I Get A Dental Crown in One Day?

August 5, 2017

Relaxed patient receiving a CEREC dental crownDental crowns are advanced restorations that allow dentists to save teeth that may otherwise need to be extracted. However, traditional dental crowns required patients schedule at least two appointment, and the process could take weeks or months to complete. In some dental offices, you can get the same, high quality restorations in just one appointment using the CEREC system.

What is CEREC?

CEREC literally stands for chairside economical restoration of esthetic ceramics, but it’s really much simpler than that. CEREC is a state-of-the-art restoration system that allows dentists to complete the entire dental crown preparation, creation, and placement process in one appointment. There’s no need to wait for a dental lab to craft the crown or schedule multiple appointments.
